Our Classes
We follow the STA ILSP teaching programme. The International Learn to Swim Programme (ILSP) is the complete, progressive and fun pathway for learners of all ages, progressing from their first splashes through to becoming safe, proficient swimmers.

STAnley Explorers (1,2,3,4) Beginners
For our early swimmers in independent classes, this is the perfect place to 'find your feet'. Using floatation, we aim to build water confidence, rotations, learn and develop basic movement skills, and introduce aquatic breathing techniques, and swim strokes in the water. We have small groups of up to 6 swimmers per teacher meaning we are able to offer as much support as required by each individual. These classes cover the STA Stanley progression badges as part of our overall STA International Learn to Swim programme.

STAnley Swimmers (5, 6, 7, 7*)
For early swimmers who have moved away from the need for floatation, through to confident swims of up to 10m on front and back. Our Stanley Swimmer lessons are a perfect way to improve strength and stamina and learn new aquatic skills. The teacher is out of the water. We have small groups of up to 6 swimmers per teacher meaning we are able to offer as much support as required by each individual.

Goldfish (GF1,2,3)
Developing technique in all main strokes and essential swim skills, this level starts to progress our swimmers into much stronger swimmers over longer swims up to 15m and beyond. The teacher is out of water. At this stage we concentrate our efforts on improving technique and do not push for too much distance as we know that this can be counterproductive. Swimmers in our Improver classes may be in groups up to 6 swimmers and are working towards achivement of the Goldfish series of 3 badges.

Angelfish (AF 1,2,3)
Stepping up to the advanced swimmer classes means that our swimmers are ready to get serious with their stroke technique and swim skills. The teacher is out of the water. In classes of up to 6 per teacher, our 'Advanced Swimmer 1' groups work to achieve the Angelfish series of 3 awards.

Sharks (SH 1,2,3) Advanced squad
Stepping up to the advanced swimmer classes means that our swimmers are ready to get serious with their stroke technique and swim skills. The teacher is out of water. In a mini squad of up to 8 per teacher, our 'Advanced Swimmer 2' groups work to achieve the advanced Angelfish and Sharks Awards. On completion of the progressive awards in this series, swimmers will be capable of swimming 25 metres without aid, all four strokes as well as mastering sculling techniques, entries to the water, rescue techniques and starts and turns.
